Criminals usually are not the brightest people. But Ashley Keast of Britain has to be one of the dumber ones.
After Keast broke into a home stealing thousands in jewelry, an iphone and a car he decided what could be better than taking a selfie with the stolen phone. Surprisingly he was smart enough to at least swap out the sim card first. But, he did not make sure the phone was signed out of the owners Whatsapp account. So when he sent the selfie to one of his friends, he also sent it to all the contacts previously saved on the phone.
A few of those who received the message were aware the phones owner was out of town and alerted police.
Not surprisingly Keast has had prior contact with law enforcement and they recognized him from the photo.
Keast was arrested and sentenced to two years and eight months for his crime.
Personally I think anyone who takes a selfie should be arrested.
